Capital Ex

Today was the day promised to Taylor last year! I have gotten out of going to the exibition for a few years now....but last year it did not go unnoticed! I had to promise a day a Carni Fun in 2008.

We got an early start and opened the gates at 12:00noon and left 8 1/2 hours later! Go figure!

Taylor and I had a great day just hanging out together and taking in the sites, sounds and smells!

Although not ride hungry like I was at the same age, I managed to convince him to go on some he'd never been on before. Some were a bit higher, faster and gave him a thrill....

So after such a great day spent with my boy, I could almost be convinced to join him again next year...although it might be nicer if he'd treat! Nothing like an Exibition to such the twoonies out of your pocket! Ouch!

some moreof the sky

clouds building over a canola field

storm cloud over a farm
this was a brilliant rainbow! hard to capture in picture because the sky to the left was so pink
picture doesn't do the colors justice...but you get the idea

Canola Fileds?

roadside thistle...straight out of the camera with NO EDITING!!! Yah me!

So last night I had a brainstorm that I would go out and take some pictures of canola fields. So around 8:00pm a friend and I got in the car to head a bit north to see what we would find. My thought process was to get the evening sun setting on the fields in hopes of some bright yellow fields.....not quite! We ended up getting caught in the rain with some funky clouds! So instead of oodles of canola fields I got lots of sky pictures...Enjoy!

Peonies

Time to share some of my peonies with you! We have now lived in Sherwood Park for eight years, same house, same job, same garden. Although we have changed many things with the house and yard, the garden remains pretty much as it was when we moved here. Yes we have moved things slightly...but not much. There are things I love about the garden and many things I really just don't like but have not yet dealt with them. One thing I LOVE are my peonies!

They line the side of our house and bring me much joy when they start to burst open! They literally...BURST! The buds on these almost pulse when it's time to bloom!

So for a short period of time in June, I have a wall of pink and white peonies to enjoy. Their size, smell and beauty would even be the envie of my "green-thumbed" dad.

Arm Lake Recreation Area

So! In a desperate effort to find a camping spot this weekend , we found Arm Lake Recreation Area. Our trailer had been out of commission briefly, early in the season and we did not know how long before we would be able to use it, as a result we did not pre-book anything for the long weekend! Our hope to go to Micquelon failed so we searched for something else fairly close to home. This was an OK spot to our surprise. The site was not the greatest, high shrubby brush and very few trees, but the lake was clean and kid & dog friendly! And that's what it was all about! Plus Taylor even smiled for a few pictures, which is always great in my book! He has such an awesome smile!
