July 5, 2014

This has been a funky week! My works days are slightly changed as my boss is on holidays and then throw in a holiday on a Tuesday and I can't seem to remember what day it is! I missed two appointments because of this...I HATE MISSING scheduled events...it's so NOT me! Fortunately the weekend came and next week is all back to normal! Routine can be good.

July means a new sketch up on the Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy Gallery. This month's was another that I really loved.
I stayed pretty true to the sketch design although I opted for one photo instead of three. I really liked how it turned out and had fun putting it together.

I used the "Collecting Moments" collection from Fancy Pants; paper, stickers and alphas. I layered the page with papers, May Arts Ribbon, Magenta's chipboard die cuts, ink and stitching. I plan to add a bit of journaling with black pen around the center block, but haven't decided what. I may just list everyone's name.

This hot air balloon is a Heartfelt Creations stamp. I coloured it in with Stampin' Up markers and added a diluted coat of gesso the the top to tone the colours down. Ending up being just as I had hoped! The gears are from Magenta. I coloured them with Viva Decor's Inka Gold metal paint, I can't even begin to tell you how much I LOVE these paints. Once dry they love to be buffed for a gorgeous shine and the colours are beyond yummy. Bet you can't buy just one!

I wish I could make perfect ink splatters...but I can't. Who knew making a "mess" could be so difficult. Fortunately I have a wonderful stencil from The Crafter's Workshop that has gorgeous splatters. I have this stencil in a 12x12 and 6x6 version...it gets pulled out lots! LOVE IT!

To each of my Fancy Pants alpha stickers, I added three little dots for interest. I used smooch to get the job done, I love the stiff, small brush that comes with the bottle. So great for little details.

I hope in the craziness of our summer you get a chance to work with this sketch. I can see using it often.
